Hey. Welcome to the Inelegant Horse Rider, a blog about horse riding, cycling, running and ethical and sustainable style with an element of sewing and knitting involved.
I have been back riding for about eight years now, can’t believe it is that long, and I am hooked. I didn’t do much riding as a child but a friend convinced me to have a go again and I haven’t looked back. I currently ride twice a week – one lesson and one hack, I am an intermediate rider but I am nervous although I like to test my abilities. Over the past few years I have galloped a Clydesdale on a beach in Cumbria, jumped cross country fences in Ireland and galloped through the desert in Egypt.
Around the same time I took up running as well, I used to run longer distances, 10 miles plus, although if a run involves a ridiculous element you can normally find me and the other Team Bambi girls on the start line. I am now running shorter 10k distances building back up from a fall in 2013.
In 2013 I took part in the Wartime Wardrobe Challenge which was brilliant, you can read more about it under the Wartime Wardrobe Challenge category on the main blog. It was a sustainability challenge and tapped into an area of real interest to me – sustainable and ethical fashion. To continue with this theme throughout 2014 tried to do a challenge related to ethical and sustainable fashion every month, you can catch up with these posts using the category A Challenge for Every Month. Now in 2015 I am trying to catch up on those challenges I missed last year and starting to try to create more of my own clothing.
So this blog is a pick and mix affair and I will be posting at least once a week, I hope you like it! Any questions just leave me a comment.
